Mascara review

Mascara is one of my desert island makeup must haves; so when a co-worker said that Priceline had all Maybelline Mascaras down to $10; I raced up in my coffee break to grab the new one out!
Instantly fell in love with the big fat purple/fushcia tube! I like the chunky packaging alot! Got home and tried it out...

..
naked lashes.

1 coat

2 coats

and wasn't too happy with the results; I had no idea how to make use of  the 'spoon' shaped brush; (mainly due to my haste in smelling the product; I ripped the outer packaging off at work and threw it away) it was a little clumpy/flakey and my lashes stuck together... Maybelline website to the rescue!!

What Maybelline says;

Why You'll Love It
-Patented Spoon brush and Kera-fiber formula instantly build 8x more volume without clumping
-Unique flexible wand helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of 300% more lashes
-Ophthalmologist tested
-Contact lens safe

For Best Results
Hold brush with spoon side against lashes and sweep from root to tip to fill in gaps and coat each lash with Kera-fiber formula. Repeat until false lash look is achieved. Do not let dry between coats.

so that helped a bit;

  •  lashes are appear longer, and have more volume all the way to the tip
  • clumpy issue sorted by not letting it dry between coats..
  •  spoon side?? what is spoon side? spoons have 2 sides so which is it?? the concave or convex side?? I tried both sides of the "spoon" which yielded similar results though the concave fared marginally better..
  • and have decided that my eyelashes hate me and will always stick together..
It's not a bad mascara; but I think it doesn't deliver on 8x volume or the 300% more lashes look; nor do I like the fact that if you add to it later you end up with a clumpy mess (say if you're going out straight from work)
I like the smell (mmmm beeswaxy); it does make your lashes longer looking and thicker, but not to the extent where I think "falsies", love the packaging and it would be great for an everyday mascara, as the removal wasn't hard at all just a quick swipe with remover..
Was it worth my $10? yes it was..would I buy it again; quite possibly..

Like a kid in a candy store!!

My friends decided to band together and buy me something for my birthday that I've been eyeing off for ages!! An Inglot Freedom System eyeshadow palette!!! Squee!! My hand ended up looking a mess but eventually I narrowed down the chosen 10. Unfortunately the store had run out of the 10 eyeshadow square cases so the lovely sales assistant wrote all the selected shadow numbers down so that when the cases came in (hopefully Tuesday) my besties can pick it up!! So tune in to see what I ended up with :)

NOTD, Purple Poisson!!!

Finally got my self some flakies!! Sooo stoked! I love the effect that these polishes have over other colors, somewhat scaly (hence the "poisson") shiny and  sparkly etc etc... I currently have Orly Nail Rescue on, so please pardon the lumpiness..

Hair stuff... (50% off TIGI)

having done a massive cleanup of the bathroom I discovered that loads of my hair products had died a painful and somewhat sticky death.. So due this I am forced to go shopping for hair products once more; this time I am looking for products that smell nice.. (the main reason that I placed the old products in the back of the cupboard is that they smelled a little weird)
So into my life came  TIGI again, I have already had Smoothing Stuff from the Dumb Blonde range, which I love.. It's a wonderful shimmery finishing creme which is light (as long as it's used sparingly) and doesn't weigh my fine hair down; and smells fantastic!! (strawberries)  So walking passed my local Stefans hairdresser I was gobsmacked to see that they have 50% off TIGI products!! I was very restrained and bought only 2 products.. Superstar blowdry lotion and Hard To Get texturizing paste.. So far when I've used them I haven't got the stiff hair syndrome that my previous similar products gave me but still enough body and control to survive the day at work. The smell does fade but I don't mind that seeing as it won't clash with whatever perfume I'm wearing that day.. and the funky looking packaging is awesome!!

Are there any other TIGI products you'd recommend?

If you cant get to a salon they do have an online shop..

New stuff!!

Just come back from the opening of Beautiful You's Day Spa. The treatments look fab and the spa bath looks redunkulously cool.. It looks like a punk studded bath it has that many jets in it..*drool* There was a small baggie handed out on entry and there were a few samples of Thalgo, and a mini Essie emery board.  I could not resist the Essie Spring Collection mini set.. I haven't tried any essie products yet and collections of minis are always a good way to go when sampling a brand for the first time..

Just a quickie mani..

I did this in no time at all, hence all the messiness.. It's a quick drying polish (not holo quick but still speedy) gorgeous blue jelly base with a fine greenish glitter, not at all chunky like Nubar Night Sparkle.  I only had time to do 2 coats of polish hence it being slightly sheer..

Also on my recent jaunt over to New Zealand stopped in a Nike store and picked up these beauties, brown glitter and metallic red... <3

Venomous Villains Collection..

I can't wait till this collection from Mac hits the online shop! The Malefiecent collection is where all the polishy goodness is.. I don't think I will be able to wait until I see swatches (as I normally do) I'll just be compelled to buy them as soon as they're released.. Formidable! is looking a little like Orly's Space Cadet only a bit more purple.. Yummo!

Mean & Green; Formidable!;Bad Fairy.
I was looking for a widget to countdown till the release but couldn't find an appropriate one, does anyone know where to find intructions on how to make your own countdown widget?
